About Us Community Masjid Abu Bakr is located a mile off of Interstate I-85 on Briarwood Road. It is with in the perimeter and very easily accessible to the highway. The Masjid is just north of Emory University and 8 miles south the downtown of Atlanta. It is a neighborhood mosque and many families and students live around the Masjid and its adjacent schools. If you need driving directions to the Masjid, you can use our directions. The Masjid is also easily accessible via mass transit on MARTA. Simply take bus #98 from Brookhaven MARTA Station. The bus stops at the Masjid gate. We hope you come by soon, Insha’Allah (God willing)! Masjid Abu Bakr was established in 2006 as a religious institution devoted to the service of the Muslim community. Today, our main mosque is one of nearly 35 in the metro-Atlanta area. Organization Masjid Abu Bakr (Brookhaven Islamic Center) is a nonprofit, non-political, religious organization. It is not affiliated or subordinate to any organization either inside or outside the U.S. The organization is operated and maintained by those who believe in the unity of Allah and the Last Day, establish Salah, practice Zakah and fear none except Allah (SWT). The operations of the organizations are based on well-established documents of Ahl al-Sunnah wal Jama’ah: The Quran, Ahadith books (e.g., Bukhari, Muslim, Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah, Nasai, etc.), Ijma-ul-Ummah, consensus of companions, and Islamic scholars. Masjid Abu Bakr is a sound organization, and it is incorporated and registered with appropriate government agencies as a non-profit, religious organization.
