Our History There are approximately 5000 Muslims living in Charlotte, North Carolina area. A significant numbers of these Muslims live in South Charlotte area where there was no permanent Masjid within close vicinity. Recognizing this gap, South Musalla was established in 1995 in a rental miniature golf retail space to have Friday Khutba & prayers. Since its establishment, South Musalla has moved to three different locations due to terminations of lease and community growth. This led to our current development of a permanent masjid and associated other facilities. The work of this permanent Islamic Community Center in South Charlotte has now begun with a purachse of a 4 acre land to to serve muslim families residing in South Charlotte, Pineville, Rock Hill, Fort Mill, Mint Hill, Waxhaw, Weddington, lake Wiley, and Tega Cay areas of the Carolinas. Inshaallah,we look forward to serving the needs of the South Charlotte area muslims and the Carolinas-at-large.
