A guide to UmmahCity

The whole Muslim internet, one app on your phone. Email, chat, prayer, giving, and 10,000+ Muslim-owned places, all behind one sign-in. Here's how to find your way around.

UmmahCity is the city. Ummah One is your membership in it. UmmahPass gets you in.

What it is

UmmahCity is a digital walled city for the Ummah. Instead of scattering yourself across Big Tech, you get one safe, Muslim-owned home with everything inside it: your @ummah.email inbox, chat, prayer times, halal places, charity, and more. One login carries you into every district.

It installs straight to your phone's home screen like an app, with no App Store or Play Store in the middle. Tap an icon, and the whole city opens.

Install it

On iPhone: open ummah.city/app in Safari, tap the Share button, then "Add to Home Screen."
On Android: open ummah.city/app in Chrome and tap Install when prompted (or the menu's "Add to Home screen").
Open UmmahCity from your home screen. It runs full-screen, like any app.

Why you install it, not download it from the App Store

UmmahCity installs to your home screen straight from the web, with no App Store or Google Play in the middle. We did this on purpose: no app store can decide a Muslim app does not get approved, no platform takes 30 cents of every dollar you give through the app, and when we fix or add something it shows up for you automatically.

The good

One tap to install on iPhone and Android from the same address. Your giving is not taxed 30% by Apple or Google. Updates ship the moment we push them. Share a link and anyone can get it, no store account needed.

The honest trade-offs

On iPhone, notifications work only after you install it, and can arrive a few minutes late (an Apple limit). And you will not find us by searching the App Store: you get here by a link, a QR code, or someone in your community sending you ummah.city. That last part is by design.

Your membership

UmmahPass is your single sign-in. It carries one identity across every district, so you never make another account.

Ummah One is your membership inside the city. It unlocks full access, your member badge, zero-fee giving, and member discounts. You can browse the city for free and upgrade any time.

Owned, not Meta

UmmahCity is built by Muslims, for the Ummah. No venture capital, no selling your attention, no surveillance you didn't ask for. We keep only what we need to run the city. Chat and email are not end-to-end encrypted yet, so we never call them "private" or "secure" - the honest line is simply: owned by us, not by Meta.

This is v0.1 - very first, untested

This is the very first untested version of UmmahCity. Expect bugs and rough edges - that is exactly why it is open now. If something feels broken, confusing, or off, we want to hear it. Your feedback shapes the city.
