Why did we build a coffee shop in the masjid? The Problem Outside of prayers and events, unfortunately, the masjid is not an inviting place for the community to convene comfortably. The Solution By combining a welcoming environment with delicious drinks, we hope to build a space that combats this very problem and fosters community building. While we operate and look like a coffee shop, our goal is not just to serve coffee. Our goal is to serve community—with a side of coffee.  How can we achieve this goal? Serving coffee, tea & delicious pastries — A medium to spark conversations and increase time spent at the masjid with the community. A Space to Meet — Make the masjid the go-to space for meeting friends & spending leisure time. A Youth Center — Increasing the sense of community amongst youth and broadening the range of ongoing activities. Next Steps After serving the community for the past few months, we’re excited to continue serving by adding new items to our menu and hosting more events. We’ll be hosting more game nights, coworking days, and so much more. We can’t wait to build more and more for our community—our ummah.
