Masjid Al-Momineen Servicing Clarkston, Tucker, Lilburn, and Stone Mountain Muslims since 1989. About Us Masjid Al-Momineen was established in 1989 in a rented 4 bedroom house on Church Street in Clarkston β by Divine Providence and generous donations from a group of 100 Afghan immigrants residing mostly in and around the city of Clarkston. Soon other Muslims from Pakistan and the Indian subcontinent joined the community followed by refugees from war stricken Iraq, Kurdistan, Somalia, Ethiopia, Bosnia, and Kosovo. At that time, there were fewer than 7 other mosques in the greater Atlanta metropolitan area. Over time, Muslims from many other countries of the world including Myanmar and Syria came in to make Clarkston the biggest international Muslim community in Atlanta. The community had very early on outgrown the rental property and purchased a piece of property in its current location by 1992. Over time, adjacent other properties were purchaed bringing the total land area under management of Masjid Al-Momineen to almost 6.5 acres. This property consisted of 3 buildings until fall of 2019 β two served as prayer halls for men and women, while the third was used as a rental to defray a portion of the monthly expenses. The original building, a 100 year old building, served as the menβs Musallah for 27 years. It was finally demolished in early fall of 2019 at the ripe age of 127 and replaced by the new 26,000sf Masjid. Currently, Masjid Al-Momineen possesses three buildings, the new Masjid and two others that are used as needed as housing for Imams, resident scholars. and guests β or as extra educational or community facilities. Goal Our goal has been to build a place of worship that serves as the community center for a diverse group of immigrant and local Muslims representing over 30 countries; to build a beautiful landmark in the city of Clarkston which hosts expats from no fewer than 70 countries; to build a place where Clarkston and neighboring residents could conv
