The Qu’ranic verse quoted above is the mantra of the Islamic Shoura Council of Bakersfield.  We chose this verse as our guiding principle because we believe Allah (SWT) commands every Muslim community to work together in mutual cooperation towards obtaining righteousness (Birr) and piety (Taqwa).  The Islamic Shoura Council of Bakersfield is an independent body of Muslims representing the Muslim Community of Bakersfield with the main goal of promoting knowledge and lifestyles based on authentic Islamic teaching, which leads to a high standard of morals, ethics and character.  The Islamic Shoura Council of Bakersfield consists of Muslims in Bakersfield who support, believe in and practice, to the best of their abilities, the tenets of Islam as established by the Glorious Qu’ran and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (SAWS), his companions and the three righteous generations referred to by the Prophet in the authentic (Sahih) hadith. The Islamic Shoura Council of Bakersfield is an umbrella organization for the Bakersfield Muslim Community and is currently comprised of the following participating organizations:  Alfarooq Islamic Center, the ICSJV, and the Cal State Bakersfield Muslim Student Association.  In addition, individual membership on the Council is open to the entire community.  Several individuals currently serving on the Council have no official affiliation with any of the member organizations.  In order to learn more about one of the member organizations, please click on the name of that organization on the left side of this screen.
